In the 1980's, scientific evidence linking greenhouse gas emission from human activities, particularly energy production and  use, industrialization, agriculture production, waste management, land use change and forestry.

On 9th May 1992 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the INC adopted the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Ghana ratified the Convention on 6th September 1995. In Ghana Climate Change is seen as a development issue
